Newcastle Society for Blind People

Net and Natter

The idea of this is an informal session that helps people explore making the most of the internet .A weekly gathering of like minded souls!

These sessions are not formal classes – they are organised on a drop in basis so you can come along for all of the session or just the part you want.

When: Tuesdays 11.00 – 13.00

Where : IT Suite NSBP , MEA House

Things we are looking at the moment

Parking on pavements and A Boards - if you see A boards on Newcastle streets take a picture if you can and put it up on our Facebook page. We also want to ask people to report when rotating cones aren't working.

Broken pavements causing a hazard for VI people - we need to have your experiences so we can tell the Council

Cyclists being considerate to visually impaired people - and reporting cyclists  when they have not been considerate

Longer crossing times at pedestrian crossings for people who are less mobile

Unofficial Facebook pages that can look like the official pages of celebrities and this can  confuse VI people eg they might try to friend you

Accessibility of local websites and how they can be more visually impaired friendly

The sessions are run by Bill Norman If you want to know more please contact Bill Norman on 2327292 or e mail bill@nsbp.co.uk
